- Paste made by ground whole plant is applied for dysuria after highly poisonous snake bites

Amide: acalyphamide from whole plant; cyanogenic glucoside: acalyphine from aerial parts; kaempferol glycosides: mauritianin, clitorin, nicotiflorin and biorobin from flowers and leaves
Bioactivity :
Petroleum ether and alcohol extracts of plant: anti-implantation activity, estrogenic activity, post coital antifertility activity; ethanol extracts of dried plant parts: wound healing; aqueous, ethyl acetate and alcohol extracts of leaves: antibacterial, snake venom neutralizing properties; methanol extract of whole plant: analgaesic and anti-inflammatory
