- Roots are used in the treatment of fever, dyspepsia, liver disorders and cholera
- Bark, roots, flowers and leaves are used as remedies for vomiting, eructation, piles, acidity, diarrhoea, gonorrhea, loss of taste and malaria
- Root bark is a constituent of well-known Ayurvedic formulation “Dashamula”

Quinones: lapachol, stereochenols A and B, sterekunthal B, steroquinone C from plant
Bioactivity :
Lapachol: anticancer; alcohol and aqueous extracts of stem bark: antibacterial, cytotoxic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antihyperglycaemic, analgaesic, antipyretic, antioxidative, cytotoxic and antiviral against Reo virus
